Women in Construction Week
Construction has long been seen as a male-dominated industry - but that narrative is changing.
Across worksites, training programs, and apprenticeship pathways, women are building not just careers, but confidence, leadership, and lasting impact.
At EMBERS, we’ve had the privilege of supporting women from diverse backgrounds as they enter and thrive in the skilled trades. During Women in Construction Week, we’re reflecting on just a few of the incredible women whose stories remind us that there’s no single path into this industry, and no limit to what’s possible.

Read Karen’s Story
Karen’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Living with a chronic illness has made it difficult to find work with flexible hours, and moving to a new city added an extra layer of complexity. “If I have a flare-up and need time off, most employers wouldn’t accept that,” she explains. “But with EMBERS, I have a full-time job any day I want it, and they support me through everything.” This flexibility has allowed Karen to work on various sites and broaden her skills.
